Jamie Black received her B.A. from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky in 1976 with Honors and later studied to be a legal assistant at the University of Indianapolis where she won the Legal Assistant Award for 1991.  Although she was raising two children as a divorced "single mom" and working two jobs, Jamie made the decision to become a lawyer.  She graduated from the Indiana University Law School at Indianapolis in 1996, where she was elected to Law Review (1994-1996).  Jamie is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and the Johnson County Bar Association.  She has been a Certified Family Law Mediator since 1999. Jamie was on the National Executive Alumni Board of Northwood University from 1991 to 1995, receiving a distinguished service Citation in 1991 and is a member of the West Baden Springs Hotel Coalition, under the sponsorship of  the Historic Landmark Foundation of Indiana.  She participated as a prison ministry volunteer in 1993 and 1994 sponsored by Christ United Methodist Church. Jamie is currently a member of Southport Presbyterian Church.

Throughout her career Jamie has remained "an independent" even though she has had offers to join larger firms in the Indianapolis area.  Her philosophy is that law is a service business as well as a profession and her clients should always "have their phone calls returned" and should feel welcome when they enter her office.  In January of 2001 she opened her present office on Madison Avenue where the coffee pot is always on and the atmosphere is friendly.

You will find that Jamie places a great priority on being thorough whether she is preparing for Court, negotiation or mediation.   She is committed to never taking on a larger case load than she can handle properly and will turn down cases if she feels that she won't have time to prepare for them properly.  Once you retain her services, you can be assured that she'll fully dedicate herself to your case.
